  • Need to import data into QuickBooks after extracting a document? If you've just extracted a bank statement, receipt, or invoice with Datafromfile and want the numbers in QuickBooks Online, the export is already most of the way there. Here's exactly what QuickBooks' own CSV import expects, so the upload works the first time.
  • What QuickBooks Online's CSV import actually requires
  • Per QuickBooks' own import requirements:
  • Getting there from Datafromfile
  • 1. Extract your bank statement or transaction list with Bank Statement to Excel. 2. In the results table, rename your columns to Date, Description, and Amount if they aren't already (Datafromfile's column headers come from what's actually on the document, so they may read differently). 3. In the Date column, make sure values are consistently formatted, reformat to MM/DD/YYYY if needed. 4. Strip any currency symbols from the Amount column before exporting. 5. Export to CSV, then upload it in QuickBooks Online under Banking > Upload transactions. 6. Map the columns in QuickBooks' import wizard, then review the preview before confirming, a quick check here catches most formatting issues before they become recorded transactions.
