Convert Bank Statement PDFs to a Xero CSV

Turn a PDF or scanned bank statement into a CSV for Xero’s bank statement import: one row per transaction with Date, Amount and Description, in a single signed amount column where money out is negative. You map the three labelled columns in Xero’s import screen, and the balance check confirms the statement ties before you download.

Features

  • One signed amount column: money in positive, money out negative
  • Labelled Date, Amount and Description columns, ready to map in Xero’s import screen
  • Pick DD/MM/YYYY or MM/DD/YYYY dates
  • Checks opening balance + transactions = closing balance, and flags the row where a running balance stops adding up
  • Rows whose date or amount cannot be read are named and left out, never exported with a guessed value

How it works

  • Upload the statement: A PDF bank statement, native or scanned.
  • Check the balances: Every transaction is extracted, then the opening balance, money in, money out and closing balance are checked against each other.
  • Download the Xero CSV: Choose “Xero bank statement import” in the export options, then import the file in Xero and map the Date, Amount and Description columns.

Frequently asked questions

  • Do I need to map the columns in Xero? Yes. Xero’s CSV import asks which column holds each field. The file has a header row naming Date, Amount and Description, so each one is easy to match.
  • What happens if the statement does not balance? The balance check shows which row breaks the running balance, so you can correct that cell in the editor before exporting. You see the result before you download, and the export is not blocked.
  • Can I still get an Excel file? Yes. The same extraction exports to XLSX, CSV and JSON too, and the Excel file includes a Verification sheet with the balance check.
  • Is it free to try? Yes, every plan includes free monthly extraction credits, no credit card required to try it.
